Sightseeing in Berlin - By Boat!
If you want to sightseeing in Berlin, then I personally think that the best way to see the city is by boat. There are lots of different cruises to choose from and most last between one and two hours. The Haus der Kulturen is a good place to depart.

Using a Pissoir (Outdoor Urinal for Men)
I had never used a 'pissoir' before I came to Berlin, so it was quite a novelty for me. There aren't that many of them in the city compared to public toilets, but there are a few and they can be extremely convenient! The one I used was in the Alt Tegel area.

The Berlin Reichstag
This building is truly awesome and a real symbol of Berlin. The Reichstag (on the Platz der Republik) was home to the German parliament between the years of 1894 and 1933, and has since been rebuilt after WWII bombing, like so many other buildings in the city. It is again being used as the seat of the German government (Bundestag) and is topped with a rather grand dome. You can actually walk up a ramp inside, which takes you to the very top of the dome, where the city views are better than great. Since part of the inner dome is covered in mirrors, it is the perfect model for some rather funky photos. And the best part of all - admission is actually completely free, so it doesn't cost a penny.

My Experience of the Berlin Wall Site
I found the remains of the Berlin Wall to be quiet thought provoking and it was hard to imagine the grief and struggles that this structure had caused. There are only a few remaining stretches of the wall still standing today, which was once almost 100 miles long, with nearby 300 different watch towers. Checkpoint Charlie is worth a photo.

The Brandenburg Gate was Massive
When I came round the corner and first set eyes on the Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor), well it almost took my breath away. The pictures of it really don't do it justice and the sheer scale surprised me. This is the only gate still standing today, from the many different gateways that once denote formal entrances into the city. It was built at the end of the 18th century and was a favourite spot of Hitler's, who had Nazi rallies here many years ago.
